Review: Lamaze Foaming Hair Strengthener

I promised a while back, a review on the Lamaze Foaming Hair Strengthener. The reason I haven’t posted about it, is because I only used it about a week and didn’t really notice a difference. I know you have to use it more than a week, but I didn’t have any desire to see it out. The problem with this product is that you have to apply it to your scalp 2x daily, and that’s a pretty difficult task when you have long hair. It took me about 20 minutes each time to cover my head. Then, it made my hair super greasy. I’d apply it in the morning, then tie my hair up. Then in the evening, I’d shower, apply it and tie my hair up again. I just couldn’t stand having my hair down with it looking and feeling so gross.

I stopped using it after the first week and noticed no difference. About two weeks later my hair loss slowed down and my hair has begun growing back. I don’t believe this is a delayed response to the product, just my hormones leveling out. So, in the end, if you want to try it, do it. If you can tolerate the work it takes and the nasty hair for a while, let me know how it works for you. It’s only $5 on Amazon so I think it’s worth a shot if you feel like all your hair is falling out!

Upcoming Review: Lamaze Foaming Hair Strengthener

I am overwhelmed with post-partum hair loss.. I have literally cried over how much hair is falling out of my head. It’s gotten to the point where I wear my hair up every day and only wash it once a week (It gets super oily.. gross..) because every time I wash it or brush it I lose CLUMPS.

I came across Lamaze Foaming Hair Strengthener online but cannot find any reviews, except for testimonials posted by the company, which of course are all going to be positive. I ordered it yesterday and it’s supposed to be delivered today (I KNOW, FAST RIGHT??) and I intend on doing a full blown review, with pictures and everything. So stay tuned. :)

OPI Want To Be A-Lone Star & Rainbow Connection

I’m trying to get back to painting my nails, so I think I’ll start posting pictures of them here. :)

This first one is part of OPI’s Texas Line. It’s called “Want To Be A-Lone Star”. It’s a very light silvery-gray and I actually really like it by itself. I’ve been getting more into the light colors, excluding pinks, hah. I’m a bit early for it, but it’s actually a very good winter shade.

Over that last one, I put 3 layers of OPI’s Muppet Line – Rainbow Connection. I have to say, I was a bit disappointed. It looks way better in the bottle, and I have a feeling it would take 6+ coats to get to where I’d really like it, but it works well enough. I might try layering it over a darker color at some point, and then I’ll post about it here.

Verizon, and why we might be leaving them.

When I first married Jeremiah, my mother had Verizon with me on the plan, but Jeremiah had Sprint. So I moved onto his plan and all was well until their customer service became terrible. We switched to Verizon and have been with them for about 6 years.

We’ve had a few issues now and then, but they’ve usually fixed it after a little bit of hassle. Take for instance, we lived in Florida in an area where Verizon had absolute ZERO cell service. That was all fine, and we dealt with it, until we were outside, I had an incident & he tried to call 911 on his cell phone. Call DROPPED. He called Verizon, furious, and after a bit of back and forth, they moved us onto an Alltel (whom they were in the midst of acquiring) plan. Verizon and Alltel were merging at the time and they hadn’t taken over all the towers yet. However, there was actually an Alltel tower right by our house.

So they moved us onto the new plan, we had cell service, all was well again. Then we had some issues last year where they issued us about 8 refurbished cell phones in a row that didn’t work, STRAIGHT OUT OF THE BOX. We both went about a month without working phones. In the end, all we wanted was what we paid for. We never asked for anything except what our plan promised, and in the end I think they gave us a month of cell service free. It was super hectic.

Now, a year after that last incident, we face being forced to change our plans, or pay full price for new phones (which would be $500-600 if we got the phones we wanted). The second option is ridiculous and out of the question.. we pay them enough money every month, we’re not also paying them over $1,000 for our phones.

So that leaves us with two options;
One, change our family plan from our unlimited data to one with a fixed data allowance, for WAY MORE MONEY, or -
Two, switch providers, get double the data that Verizon offers, with more minutes and unlimited mobile to mobile calling & texting, for LESS MONEY.

It looks like the second option is going to be the best for us. I hate the idea of leaving Verizon, because we’ve had them for so long and I like to think we’re valued customers or some B.S. like that. After all, over the past 6 years, with our monthly dues and cell phone upgrades every 2ish years, we’ve spent over $12,000 with them (Holy crap, when you type that out you kind of realize how absolutely insane that is..). But it looks like we’ll be moving on. Cell phones are so effing expensive, and we’re lucky to be able to afford to have decent phones, even if we don’t keep up with the latest and greatest.. but we really have to be smart with our money regardless, and spending more money for less service? That’s just stupid..

Got2b Rockin’ It Dry Shampoo

I’ll admit I was completely skeptical about trying the Got2b Rockin’ It Dry Shampoo. I’d purchased three other brands of dry shampoo because washing my hair daily was drying it out, but not washing it daily would leave it greasy. Finally my local store had a coupon and I decided I would give it a shot.

I got my hair washed and cut last Thursday, then didn’t wash my hair all weekend. Sunday night I used the dry shampoo. I sprayed it on per the directions, tied it up and took a shower. When I got out and dried off, I took my hair down and brushed through it. To my amazement, my hair was fresh, not greasy at all, and smelled great.

I wasn’t even planning on reviewing this product, but I was so impressed that I decided I had to. I threw away all of the other dry shampoos I’d purchased and I plan on going back today or tomorrow to get more of the Got2b Rockin’ It Dry Shampoo while it’s still on sale.

Fantastic Sams Moisturizing Shampoo & Conditioner

I have needed a haircut pretty bad for a while. In fact, my last one was June 18th. I remember this because they did free hair cuts, manicures and massages for parents of babies in the NICU at the Children’s Hospital. I came across a $3 off coupon for Fantastic Sams so I decided to give them a try. While I was there I noticed that they were having a ‘Liter Sale’. Their liter size bottles of shampoo and conditioner were 2 for $20, which is a decent deal, so I decided to give it a try. I usually use cheaper products but I’m never really happy with my hair. Most recently I thought I was splurging by purchasing some coconut milk shampoo and it just made my hair feel so dry and nasty. I ended up wearing my hair in a pony tail for about a month. The product dried out my hair, so I added oils & leave in conditioners that made my hair super greasy. YUCK!

So anyways, I had them wash my hair with the stuff at the salon before they cut it. Let me just tell you, this morning, my hair feels AMAZING! I feel like I had some sort of special treatment to bring my hair back from the nasty state it was in, but all they did was shampoo and condition it! It’s soft and bouncy and easy to brush. I can’t believe I didn’t try this stuff earlier.

Now I really want to go back and buy some more of their other products and see how they compare. They have quite a few varieties depending on your hair type, including a line for color treated hair. My hair is just highlighted, not colored, so the stylist recommended the ‘Moisturizing’ since I’ve been complaining of dry hair. I definitely found my new shampoo and conditioner!

Paleo Pumpkin Pancakes

Ingredients:
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/8 tsp salt
1/2 tbsp pumpkin pie spice*
1/2 cup almond flour

1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 cup canned pumpkin
1 tbsp honey
2 eggs

coconut oil for the pan

In a medium bowl, combine the wet ingredients. In another small bowl, combine the dry ingredients. Add the dry ingredients to the wet. Mix well and let sit for 2-3 minutes.

Cook in a pan in coconut oil (can use any type of oil but I like the taste of the coconut oil, heh) for about 2 minutes on each side, or until the spatula slides under them easily.

Enjoy!
*It’s the beginning of the fall season and I had no pumpkin pie spice, so I substituted with nutmeg and it was delish!
